John Green

John Green is an American writer who lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, along with his wife Sarah, son of Henry and puppy called Willy.

 John Green is not only a writer. John Green with his brother Hank Green began creating their own videos on youtube in 2007. The brothers interact with each other (makes video letters), perform songs, punishments (if either of them break the agreement and fail to upload a new video clip) speak on current topics, and much more.

Also, the brothers have developed a Crash Course!in which they speak about world history , biology, literature, ecology, U.S. history, and a new series of episodes will be also about the chemistry.

Only two John Green books have been translated into Lithuanian: debut book Looking for Alaska and the most recent The Fault In Ours Stars.

 

 

Book Fair

Better late than never.

Last weekend, I visited the Vilnius Book Fair along with with Victoria and Indr5, Dovil5, Daiva and Roberta.

There were a lot of books and even more people. It's impossible to see everything in one day, but hey, at least we tried. From one booth to another... Buying more books would be nice, unfortunately we have limited resources. It's impossible to read all the books in the world, let alone buy all of them.
My observation: lack of stands with books in foreign (English) language. Maybe they were missing only on Saturday, when we visited, or maybe there weren't many of them in the first place. I am studying audiovisual translation in English, and I wanted to buy some books in English, so I was a little disappointed.

Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice

This year marks 200 years since the first publication of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice. This novel attracts a lot of attention even now.

During the 200 years since the first edition was published, a number of films, television series and theatrical adaptations were released.

Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Characters come alive on youtube videos are actively involved in social websites.

Even though I have read the book, and I know all the turns of the plot, but I am eagerly waiting for the new episodes of Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The project developers have done awesome job. Of course, they had a lot of hard work not to drift away from the original work and the characters and their actions would appear natural and convincing in the twenty-first century environment.
